Ticketing and door control

At the door, there is one answer.

Venue Pass settles every ticket on the server: once, at one gate, with a full audit trail. The app at the door never decides on its own.

Scan it twice. The second answer is the product: the refusal carries the minute and the gate of the first entry, so an argument at the door lasts ten seconds.

Events run

Counts from the platform, from the first scan in 2026-04 to today. 21 gates have been opened in that time. The refusals are the ones worth reading: a ticket that came back a second time, on the wrong night, or on a revoked device.

17:00Before the doors

The ticket is printed matter long before it is data.

Issue a batch, send it, or print it at the desk while somebody waits. Every ticket leaves with a code the door will recognise and a history you can follow.

Batches per event
Each batch keeps its own name and history, so a reprint is never confused with a second issue.
Email or SMS
Tickets go out by email or SMS through your own provider, so delivery stays on an account you already own. Test it before the first real event.
Server-side PDF
The same output on every machine, not whatever the local browser decided to render.
Box office printing
Thermal printing at the door, with printed tickets marked so the batch is never run twice.

20:30Staff arrive

Nobody installs anything half an hour before doors.

A device slot is paired with a single-use QR on a sheet you can print. Staff who turn up without the app open a browser gate instead, and you take the access back when the shift ends.

Paired devices
Scanner app for iOS and Android, assigned per event and activated together.
Browser gates
A link, a phone, a shift. No install, no account for the person working the door.
Revoke one, keep the rest
A phone left in a taxi stops scanning on its own, and every other gate keeps working.
Printable sheets
The pairing details on paper, for a venue where the office Wi-Fi does not reach the door.

SLOT 02 · GATE A

Single use · expires 21:00

The code pairs one device once. Scanned twice, the second attempt gets nothing.

21:00Doors open

Two gates, one ticket, one winner.

Every scan is an atomic state transition under a lock on the server. Two gates reading the same code in the same second cannot both let it through — one gets a refusal, and the refusal says why.

The same code, at the same moment

A screenshot went around the group chat and it arrives at both doors at once. This is what each scanner shows.

The same numbers the production team watches, by gate and by ticket type, while the door is still running.

23:47After the show

The argument you win with a line, not a memory.

Every scan, every change to an event and every sign-in is recorded separately.

Somebody insists they never went in. You do not need the doorman to remember: the entry carries a time, a gate and a device, and the refusal that followed it is on the next line.
